Recently, TAG Heuer once again teamed up with Nintendo to create a video game-themed watch for the Mario Kart series. Unlike previous projects that combined elements of a classic clock with a digital clock, for these two Mario Kart references, TAG Heuer presents a very different look from analog watches.TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart Chronograph
The first collection of this brand is a chronograph watch which is only available in as many as 3,000 units. The case is made of 44mm diameter stainless steel and features a Mario character silhouette on the back. Another detail that is similar to the collaboration between the watchmaker and the video game series is again seen in the black ceramic bezel that bears the white “Mario Kart” logo.There are three subdials on the face that are placed at the 6 o’clock position, 9 o’clock, and 12 o’clock respectively. One subdial is at 9 o’clock in the Mario character section of the racer. The date window at 3 o’clock displays classic items in Mario Kart, including bananas and Bullet Bill. Both items serve as a substitute for date numbers. The set price for this TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart Chronograph is $4,300.
TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart Chronograph Tourbillon
Next is a watch equipped with a chronograph function and a tourbillon mechanism, which TAG Heuer produces far fewer, with only 250 units.This timepiece has a 45-millimeter case made of grade 5 titanium, and sapphire crystal glass on the back case engraved with the words “Mario Kart”. Through the crystal glass, users can see the movement of the clock which shows three silhouettes of characters from the video game.
The tourbillon movement at the 6 o’clock position displays Mario and two power-up items in the game, Spiny Shell and Bullet Bill. The listed price for this TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart Chronograph Tourbillon series is $25,600.
Both watches come with black cowhide straps sewn in red thread on the edges, as well as strap locking clasps featuring the Mario “M” symbol. Buyers of this watch will get a black watch case and a series travel pouch.
